Indonesia - Rote Island

Before going to Rote island you have to stay a night in Kupang. We ended up staying in a Mexican themed place, that had beautiful tile work and just very quirky in general.

Then we arrived at Rote to Anugura Surf Resort, it's right by the ocean and has stunning sunset views out the front. Meals are included in the board here so it has a really nice social vibe. We made some really nice friends who have been coming here for the last 30 years or so. Rote is pretty remote but it sounds like it has built up in the past few years. Back when they were first coming for surf trips there was no running water or electricity. Now they have filtered water, electricity and our room even has AC, so we felt pretty spoilt.

I've tried to be restrained with puppie pictures... there a lot more where these came from. There is a litter of 6, the poor mum!

We went on a little outing with our friends we'd made to 300 steps, which had more like 415? Beautiful view and saw some more rural areas on the drive out to the steps. Alt text
