For the first couple of weeks on Rote island there had not been much surf at all, much to Nick and the other surfers disappointment. But eventually their "patience" was rewarded. We had a couple of days of head and a half surf and a few days after that of shoulder high surf. One of the local guys Danny is a photographer and he goes and stands out on the reef to take surf shots most days, for $100 he gives you all your photos.
